Job Overview
The Blockchain Solutions Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of blockchain-based platforms and services that support the bank’s strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect end‑to‑end blockchain solutions that meet business requirements, security standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept (PoC) initiatives, pilot projects, and production deployments of blockchain platforms.
- Collaborate with product owners to translate financial use cases into technical specifications and architecture diagrams.
- Evaluate and recommend blockchain frameworks (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, Ethereum) based on scalability, performance, and governance needs.
- Develop smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, and integration APIs to connect blockchain networks with existing banking systems.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Work closely with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory considerations, data privacy, and anti‑money‑laundering (AML) requirements.
- Monitor industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies to keep the bank at the forefront of blockchain innovation.
- Establish performance metrics, monitoring tools, and incident response procedures for blockchain applications.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and stakeholder updates to communicate progress and outcomes.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in blockchain architecture, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Solidity, Go, Java, or JavaScript.
- Hands‑on experience with blockchain platforms like Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, or Ethereum.
- Strong understanding of financial services, banking processes, and regulatory environments in Uganda.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Ability to design secure, high‑performance distributed systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Leadership qualities with a collaborative mindset.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in blockchain technologies, cloud architecture, or financial services are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 5‑7 years of professional experience in software architecture, with at least 3 years focused on blockchain development and implementation. Prior experience in the banking or fintech sector is preferred.
