Job Overview
The Credit Risk Modeling Specialist will lead the design, development, and validation of quantitative models that assess credit risk across the bank’s loan portfolio. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that credit decisions are data‑driven, compliant with regulatory standards, and aligned with the bank’s risk appetite. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, calibrate, and validate credit risk models including Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Exposure at Default (EAD) for retail and corporate loan products.
- Perform rigorous back‑testing, sensitivity analysis, and model performance monitoring to ensure ongoing accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to integrate model outputs into the bank’s credit decision platforms and reporting systems.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, model governance reports, and presentations for senior management and regulators.
- Lead stress‑testing exercises and scenario analyses to evaluate portfolio resilience under adverse economic conditions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and risk officers on model development best practices.
- Stay abreast of global regulatory developments (e.g., Basel III, IFRS 9) and incorporate relevant changes into model frameworks.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB.
- Strong understanding of credit risk concepts, Basel regulatory standards, and financial statement analysis.
- Experience with SQL and data manipulation in large relational databases.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and quantitative modeling abilities.
- Effective communication skills to translate complex model outcomes into actionable business insights.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
Education
A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in credit risk modeling, preferably within a banking or financial services institution. Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing quantitative models that have been adopted for credit underwriting or portfolio management is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and other incentives are part of the total compensation package.
