Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing cultural tourism strategies that align with UNESCO preservation standards while boosting local economies. The position requires collaboration with traditional leaders, NGOs, and government agencies to develop authentic visitor experiences. Candidates will leverage digital tools to market Uganda’s cultural assets globally while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute cultural tourism programs that highlight Uganda’s heritage sites
- Coordinate with local communities to create authentic visitor experiences
- Conduct market research to identify emerging tourism trends
- Manage partnerships with international tourism boards and certification bodies
- Ensure all initiatives comply with national heritage protection regulations
Required Skills
- Expertise in cultural tourism planning and stakeholder engagement
- Proven ability to manage cross-cultural collaborations
- Digital marketing and social media strategy proficiency
- Strong project management and budgeting skills
- Fluency in Luganda and English
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Cultural Studies, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred but not required
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in tourism development or cultural heritage management
- Experience with international tourism certification programs
- Proven track record in community-based tourism projects
Salary
4,000,000 – 6,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience
