Job Overview

This role is part of UNESCO’s initiative to document and amplify Uganda’s rich cultural narratives using digital platforms. The position is based in Kibuku, a region known for its vibrant traditional arts and oral storytelling traditions. The successful candidate will work with local communities to create immersive digital content that preserves cultural heritage while engaging global audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local artists, elders, and historians to document oral traditions and cultural practices.
  • Develop interactive digital storytelling projects using video, audio, and augmented reality tools.
  • Design and execute social media campaigns to promote cultural content globally.
  • Train community members in digital storytelling techniques and content creation.
  • Partner with local schools to integrate cultural narratives into educational curricula.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in digital content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, AR/VR platforms).
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan cultural traditions and storytelling methods.
  • Experience in multimedia production and editing.
  • Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local Ugandan language (Luganda, Runyankole, etc.).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, Digital Communications, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Cultural Heritage Management or Digital Media preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in digital storytelling, media production, or cultural preservation projects.
  • Proven experience working with indigenous or local communities.

Salary

3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
