Job Overview

Ecobank Uganda seeks a dynamic Digital Financial Inclusion Specialist to design and implement strategies that expand access to financial services in rural and underserved regions of Gulu. This role is pivotal in aligning the bank’s digital transformation goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The position requires collaboration with fintech startups, government agencies, and NGOs to create scalable solutions for financial literacy and digital wallet adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute digital financial inclusion programs targeting low-income households and SMEs.
  • Conduct market research to identify barriers to financial access in Gulu’s rural communities.
  • Partner with fintech companies to integrate mobile money solutions with Ecobank’s digital platforms.
  • Design training modules for agents and customers on digital banking tools and financial literacy.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of financial inclusion initiatives using KPIs like account activation rates and transaction volumes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in digital finance, microfinance, or financial inclusion projects.
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan regulatory frameworks for financial services.
  • Proficiency in digital tools like mobile money APIs, blockchain-based payment systems, and CRM software.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of cross-sector collaboration.
  • Fluency in both English and local languages (Luo preferred).

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Digital Innovation or Financial Inclusion is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in financial services, with at least 1 year in digital financial solutions.
  • Experience working in rural or underserved markets in East Africa.

Salary

UGX 3,000,000 – UGX 4,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
