Job Overview
The Pharmaceutical Market Access Manager will lead the development and execution of market access strategies for Pfizer’s portfolio in the Southern Region of Uganda. This role involves close collaboration with commercial, regulatory, health economics, and government affairs teams to navigate pricing, reimbursement, and policy landscapes. The manager will analyze market dynamics, build value propositions, and engage key stakeholders—including the Ministry of Health, insurance schemes, and private sector distributors—to secure optimal product positioning and affordability. The successful candidate will drive initiatives that align with Pfizer’s mission to improve patient access while supporting business growth and compliance with local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive market access plans for Pfizer’s therapeutic areas in Kabale and surrounding districts.
- Conduct health economic assessments, cost‑effectiveness analyses, and budget impact models to support pricing negotiations.
- Engage with government officials, insurance providers, and key opinion leaders to advocate for favorable reimbursement policies.
- Collaborate with commercial and medical affairs teams to align market access strategies with product launch timelines.
- Monitor regulatory changes, health policy reforms, and competitor activities to adjust strategies proactively.
- Prepare and present data‑driven business cases to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Lead cross‑functional project teams to ensure timely delivery of market access deliverables.
- Maintain accurate documentation of stakeholder engagements and outcomes in compliance with Pfizer’s governance standards.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with expertise in health economics, pricing, and reimbursement frameworks.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior government and private sector officials.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI, STATA) and market research methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Deep understanding of Uganda’s healthcare system, insurance schemes, and pharmaceutical regulations.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Swahili or local languages is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Health Economics, Public Health, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., HEOR, PMP) is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in pharmaceutical market access, health economics, pricing strategy, or related roles within the East African region. Prior experience working with government health ministries, insurance bodies, or international NGOs is preferred.
Salary
The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from SSP 3,000,000 to SSP 5,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based incentives and annual bonuses are also part of the compensation package.
