Job Overview
The Sustainable Water Resource Specialist will lead initiatives to assess, design, and implement water resource management projects in rural and peri-urban areas of Gulu. This role requires collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community leaders to ensure equitable access to clean water while promoting environmental conservation. The position is ideal for professionals passionate about sustainability and community development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field assessments to evaluate water resource availability and quality in target communities.
- Design and oversee the implementation of sustainable water harvesting and distribution systems.
- Coordinate with local governments and NGOs to align projects with national water management policies.
- Train community members on water conservation techniques and maintenance of water infrastructure.
- Monitor and report on project impact, including water usage trends and environmental outcomes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in water resource management or environmental sustainability projects.
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Technical knowledge of hydrology, water quality testing, and GIS mapping tools.
- Ability to work in remote, rural environments with limited infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills for community outreach and reporting.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability or Public Health is an advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience in water resource management, environmental conservation, or related sectors.
- Previous project management experience in rural development contexts.
Salary
UGX 4,000,000 – UGX 5,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
