Job Overview

The Credit Portfolio Manager will lead the management of the bank’s corporate and SME credit portfolios, ensuring optimal risk‑adjusted returns while adhering to regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement credit portfolio strategies aligned with the bank’s risk appetite and profitability targets.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews, stress testing, and risk assessments to identify emerging credit risks.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers to evaluate loan proposals, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with credit policies.
  • Monitor portfolio performance metrics, including delinquency rates, concentration risk, and return on assets.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, highlighting portfolio trends and risk mitigation actions.
  • Lead credit committee presentations, providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
  • Mentor junior credit analysts, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and professional development.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in financial modeling.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations, Basel III standards, and credit risk frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interfacing with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in credit risk management software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance risk and growth objectives.
  • Leadership experience in managing cross‑functional teams.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CPA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must possess 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, or risk assessment within a reputable banking or financial services institution. Demonstrated experience in managing both corporate and SME credit exposures is essential.

Salary
