Job Overview

IBM Uganda seeks a dynamic Cybersecurity Analyst to safeguard digital assets and ensure compliance with global security standards. This role involves monitoring networks, analyzing vulnerabilities, and implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will collaborate with IT teams, conduct security audits, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance organizational resilience against cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for potential security breaches using advanced tools like SIEM and IDS/IPS.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans to address cyber threats swiftly and effectively.
  • Implement firewalls, encryption protocols, and access controls to protect sensitive data.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security solutions into existing IT infrastructure.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and threat intelligence analysis.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity tools such as Kaspersky, McAfee, or Cisco Firepower.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex security logs and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting risk assessments and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan and international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, UGDP).
  • Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to troubleshoot security incidents under pressure.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CompTIA Security+ are highly advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of 3–5 years in cybersecurity roles, preferably within multinational organizations or IT service providers in East Africa.

Salary

30,000 – 45,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
