Job Overview

The Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Analyst will join the Security Operations Center (SOC) team to monitor, analyze, and respond to emerging cyber threats targeting Huawei’s networks and client environments in Uganda. The role involves collecting threat data from multiple sources, conducting deep‑dive analyses, and producing actionable intelligence reports that inform proactive defense strategies. The analyst will collaborate with incident response teams, network engineers, and external partners to ensure timely mitigation of risks. This is a critical function that supports Huawei’s reputation for security excellence and aligns with national initiatives to strengthen Uganda’s cyber resilience. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze threat intelligence from open‑source, commercial, and internal feeds.
  • Identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and develop detection rules for Huawei’s security platforms.
  • Produce daily and weekly intelligence briefs for SOC analysts, network engineers, and senior management.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to provide context and recommendations during active investigations.
  • Maintain and enrich the threat intelligence repository, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
  • Track emerging threat trends, malware families, and adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) specific to the East African region.
  • Participate in threat‑sharing communities and represent Huawei in regional cybersecurity forums.
  • Assist in the development of security awareness materials for internal staff and client partners.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into clear actionable guidance.
  • Proficiency with threat intelligence platforms (e.g., MISP, ThreatConnect) and SIEM tools (e.g., QRadar, Splunk).
  • Solid understanding of ATT&CK framework, MITRE tactics, and common adversary behaviors.
  • Experience with network protocols, malware analysis, and vulnerability assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report creation and stakeholder briefings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary SOC team.
  • Familiarity with Ugandan regulatory requirements such as the Data Protection Act and the National Cybersecurity Strategy.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst (CTIA), GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of three to five years of hands‑on experience in cyber threat intelligence, cyber‑security analysis, or a closely related field. Prior experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, especially within telecommunications or ICT service providers, will be viewed favorably.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and annual salary reviews are part of Huawei’s compensation framework.
