Job Overview
The Network Security Analyst will be responsible for safeguarding Orange Uganda’s telecom infrastructure against cyber threats. Working within the Network Security department, the analyst will monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents, implement security controls, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools to identify potential threats.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on telecom equipment and associated systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Respond to security incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and coordinate remediation efforts.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to integrate security controls into network design and deployment.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of security incidents, investigations, and mitigation actions.
- Provide regular security awareness training and guidance to technical staff.
- Stay informed about emerging cyber threats, trends, and best practices relevant to the telecommunications sector.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP) and telecom equipment security.
- Experience with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection platforms.
- Proficiency in vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) and penetration testing methodologies.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and local Ugandan ICT regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CCNP Security are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in network security, preferably within the telecommunications industry. Experience with large‑scale telecom networks, mobile core security, and cloud‑based security solutions will be viewed favorably.
Salary
