Job Overview
As a Data Privacy Officer at IBM Uganda, you will lead the development and implementation of data protection policies aligned with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act. This role involves conducting risk assessments, managing compliance audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure data handling practices across IBM’s operations in East Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures
- Conduct regular audits to identify and mitigate data security risks
- Provide training to employees on data protection best practices
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure compliance with local and international regulations
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend proactive solutions
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in data privacy frameworks (GDPR, ISO 27001, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Ugandan data protection laws and regional regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in cybersecurity tools and risk assessment methodologies
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Preferred certifications: CISA, CIPP/E, or CISSP
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity or data privacy roles
- Experience working in multinational organizations or regulated industries
Salary
3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP annually, based on experience and qualifications.
