Job Overview
The Incident Response Manager will lead Cisco’s Security Operations Center (SOC) in Mbarara, overseeing the detection, analysis, containment and remediation of cyber threats targeting Cisco’s clients and internal assets. This role requires strategic thinking, hands‑on technical expertise and the ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams during high‑pressure incidents. The manager will develop and refine incident response playbooks, ensure compliance with industry standards, and mentor a team of analysts and engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the SOC team in monitoring, detecting and responding to security incidents.
- Develop, test and continuously improve incident response playbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate real‑time response activities, including containment, eradication and recovery, ensuring minimal business impact.
- Conduct post‑incident analysis, root‑cause investigations and produce detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Cisco’s global security teams to share threat intelligence and best practices.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, NIST and Uganda’s Data Protection Act.
- Mentor and train junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with external partners, vendors and law enforcement agencies.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of network security, endpoint protection, SIEM tools (e.g., Cisco SecureX, QRadar).
- Proficiency in malware analysis, reverse engineering and forensic investigation.
- Strong understanding of incident handling frameworks (e.g., NIST, SANS).
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and make rapid, informed decisions.
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and zero‑trust architectures.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH or CEH are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity incident response, preferably within a SOC environment. Prior experience leading a team of security analysts and managing large‑scale incidents is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 30,000,000 to SSP 45,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
