Job Overview
The Risk Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks across Barclays Uganda’s portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the analyst will support the development of risk models, conduct quantitative analysis, and provide actionable insights to senior management. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative risk assessments for credit, market, and operational risk exposures.
- Develop and maintain risk rating models, stress‑testing frameworks, and scenario analyses.
- Prepare risk reports and dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk controls into product development and lending processes.
- Monitor emerging risk trends, regulatory changes, and macro‑economic indicators affecting the Ugandan banking sector.
- Assist in the implementation of Basel III and local regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Support internal audit and external audit processes by providing risk data and documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
- In‑depth knowledge of banking risk concepts, Basel regulations, and Ugandan financial guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex risk findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Team‑oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in risk analysis, credit risk assessment, or financial risk modeling within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with risk management software, data visualization tools, and regulatory reporting is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and annual salary reviews are part of the compensation package.
