Job Overview

The Solar Power Plant Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of BBOXX’s flagship solar power plant located near Fort Portal. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum plant availability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The manager will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, overseeing maintenance schedules, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the solar power plant, ensuring a minimum availability rate of 95%.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans for PV modules, inverters, transformers, and balance‑of‑system components.
• Monitor plant performance using SCADA and analytics platforms, generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports for senior management.
• Lead a team of 15‑20 technicians and engineers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
• Ensure compliance with Ugandan energy regulations, environmental permits, and occupational health and safety standards.
• Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, service contractors, and local authorities to secure timely support and parts.
• Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime, optimizing energy yield, and lowering operational costs.
• Prepare and manage the plant’s operational budget, tracking expenditures against forecasts.
• Coordinate with the corporate sustainability team to document carbon offset contributions and support ESG reporting.
• Act as the primary point of contact during emergencies, leading incident response and root‑cause analysis.
