Job Overview
This role involves analyzing climate datasets, developing predictive models, and translating complex findings into strategic recommendations for Ugandan communities and organizations. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and analyze climate data from diverse sources (satellite, ground sensors, historical records).
- Develop climate risk assessments and impact projections for regional stakeholders.
- Collaborate with local partners to design climate adaptation strategies.
- Produce visualizations and reports for policymakers and community leaders.
- Stay updated on climate science advancements and integrate new methodologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python/R for data analysis and modeling.
- Experience with GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and climate software (e.g., Climate Data Operators).
- Strong communication skills to present technical findings to non-experts.
- Knowledge of Ugandan climate patterns and environmental challenges.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Geography, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in climate data analysis or environmental research.
- Proven track record in delivering climate science projects in African contexts.
Salary
3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience.
