Job Overview

The Smart Grid Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in transforming raw grid data into actionable insights that enhance reliability, efficiency and sustainability of Uganda’s power network. Working closely with engineers, IT specialists and business stakeholders, the analyst will design, develop and maintain analytical models, dashboards and reporting tools that support real‑time decision making. Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean and validate large datasets from smart meters, SCADA systems and IoT sensors across the national grid.
• Develop predictive models to forecast load demand, outage probability and renewable generation variability.
• Create interactive dashboards using Power BI or Tableau to visualize key performance indicators for senior management.
• Collaborate with grid engineers to translate analytical findings into actionable operational recommendations.
• Monitor data quality, implement data governance standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
• Support the integration of AI‑driven optimization algorithms for demand‑response and energy storage management.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal teams, regulators and external partners.
• Participate in cross‑functional workshops to identify new data sources and improve analytical workflows.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in SQL, Python or R for data manipulation and statistical analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Qlik.
• Strong understanding of electrical grid operations, smart metering and renewable energy concepts.
• Ability to communicate complex technical insights to non‑technical audiences.
• Knowledge of data governance, security and privacy best practices.
• Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in data analytics, machine learning or energy management are considered a strong advantage.

Experience

Candidates must have 3‑5 years of professional experience in data analysis, preferably within the energy, utilities or smart‑grid sector. Demonstrated experience with large‑scale data pipelines, predictive modeling and stakeholder engagement is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
