Job Overview
This position is ideal for a proactive professional to oversee environmental compliance for large-scale infrastructure projects in Gulu. The role involves monitoring adherence to national environmental regulations, conducting audits, and ensuring sustainable practices in mining, agriculture, and energy sectors. Candidates will work directly with local communities, government agencies, and international stakeholders to mitigate ecological risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for proposed projects in Gulu region
- Ensure compliance with Uganda’s National Environmental Management Act and ISO 14001 standards
- Develop and implement environmental monitoring plans for mining and agribusiness operations
- Coordinate with local communities to address environmental grievances and promote sustainable practices
- Prepare detailed compliance reports for government authorities and project stakeholders
- Lead training sessions on environmental regulations for employees and contractors
Required Skills
- Expertise in Ugandan environmental legislation and international sustainability frameworks
- Proficiency in environmental data analysis using GIS and remote sensing tools
- Ability to conduct field audits in remote and challenging environments
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management preferred
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in environmental compliance or sustainability roles
- Experience working in post-conflict regions or rural Ugandan communities
- Proven track record in mining or agricultural sector compliance
Salary
3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications
