Job Overview

This role is pivotal in analyzing agricultural and food security data to inform WFP’s strategic interventions. The Food Security Data Analyst will collaborate with local farmers, government agencies, and NGOs to design data models that predict food shortages, monitor crop yields, and evaluate the impact of WFP programs. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and field engagement to ensure actionable insights for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyze food security data from field surveys, satellite imagery, and agricultural reports.
  • Develop predictive models to assess regional food insecurity risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with local communities to gather ground-level insights on agricultural challenges and resource gaps.
  • Produce visual dashboards and reports for internal teams and external partners using tools like Tableau and Power BI.
  • Conduct training sessions for local stakeholders on data interpretation and decision-making frameworks.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS) for mapping agricultural resources and food distribution networks.
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan agricultural systems and food security challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical findings into policy recommendations.
  • Ability to work in remote rural environments with limited infrastructure.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in agricultural or humanitarian sectors.
  • Proven track record in designing data-driven solutions for food security programs.

Salary

3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
