Job Overview

UMECO seeks a skilled Geospatial Data Analyst to join its Resource Exploration team in Fort Portal. This role involves analyzing geospatial data to support mineral exploration projects, creating detailed maps, and providing insights to optimize mining operations. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Uganda’s mining industry while working with advanced GIS and remote sensing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze geospatial data using GIS software to identify mineral-rich zones.
  • Create and maintain detailed geological and topographical maps.
  • Collaborate with exploration teams to interpret satellite imagery and field data.
  • Develop reports and presentations for stakeholders on geospatial findings.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting geospatial datasets.
  • Experience with mineral exploration workflows and geological mapping.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan mining regulations and environmental guidelines.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Advanced GIS certification (e.g., ESRI) is a plus.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in geospatial analysis, preferably in mining or environmental sectors.
  • Proven track record in mineral exploration projects.

Salary

4,000,000 – 6,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
