Job Purpose

The Mechanic for Cane Haulage Sections will be responsible for the repair, servicing, preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and operational support of cane haulage equipment and agricultural machinery used in sugarcane harvesting and transportation.

The role focuses on ensuring that tractors, trailers, loading equipment, and mechanical systems remain in excellent working condition to reduce downtime and support continuous field operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

Equipment Repair & Maintenance

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance on cane haulage vehicles and machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently.
• Maintain high operational standards for field transport equipment.
• Conduct routine servicing to improve equipment reliability and lifespan.

Tractor & Agricultural Machinery Maintenance

Maintain and repair:

• NEW Holland Tractors
• Cane haulage trailers
• Pulling winches
• Agricultural loading machines

Specialized machinery includes:

• CAMECO loading machines
• JOHN DEERE equipment
• BELL machinery
• UTTAM cane handling equipment

Inspection & Diagnostics

• Conduct routine equipment inspections.
• Identify faults in engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, suspension, and transmission systems.
• Recommend corrective measures to avoid equipment downtime.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all machinery operates according to company safety standards.
• Follow workshop procedures and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain clean and safe working environments.

Technical Reporting

• Record repair history and maintenance activities.
• Report mechanical defects requiring urgent intervention.
• Support inventory management of mechanical spare parts and tools.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Applicants should possess:

Required Education

• Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Automobile Engineering

OR

• Equivalent professional certification in mechanical engineering, automotive maintenance, transport engineering, or heavy machinery servicing.

Additional Technical Certifications (Advantage)

Training or certification in:
