Job Overview
This role focuses on ensuring adherence to national and international safety standards within mining operations. The Mining Safety Compliance Officer will conduct audits, develop safety protocols, and provide training to minimize risks in high-hazard environments. The position is ideal for candidates passionate about occupational health and safety in the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for mining sites.
- Develop and implement safety training programs for staff and contractors.
- Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with Ugandan mining laws.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics to senior management.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in mining safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying workplace hazards.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
- Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Professional certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) is an advantage.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in mining safety compliance or related roles.
- Experience in East African mining operations preferred.
Salary
18,000,000 – 25,000,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
